The IR-3000C is the version of the 3000 series built for paper mills and converting lines. At a single point it measures moisture, coating weight, layer thickness and product temperature, without contact and without stopping the web. The reading does not depend on the colour, texture or speed of the material, and ambient light in the hall does not affect it.
In converting, variations in coating weight, thickness and moisture are the most common cause of rejects and downtime. Paper moisture determines its dimensions, flatness, conductivity, strength and folding behaviour, so continuous control of these values on the line pays back faster than the sensor itself.
The IR-3000C was designed for paper mills and web converting. The manufacturer lists the following materials:
Applications on these materials are described in more detail in the paper converting section.

| Consumables | None |
The data refer to the standard 3000 series configuration. Measuring range and achievable accuracy depend on the material and measuring point, so we confirm them on a sample of your product before quoting.
The sensor is mounted with a bracket at the rear or top of the housing, usually 10 to 40 cm above the web, with 100 to 150 mm recommended by the manufacturer. Changes in material flow are compensated by filtering, damping and averaging in the sensor software. Typical measuring points:
The sensor works on its own or in a multi-head system, and for profile measurement it is mounted on a traversing frame that moves the head across the web.
The sensor has three isolated 4-20 mA outputs, software configurable, and a 0-10 V voltage output. Digital communication uses RS-232/485 and Ethernet TCP/IP, with Profibus, Profinet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus available on request. Values go straight to the PLC, DCS or SCADA system, without additional middleware.
Configuration and viewing of measurements are done from a laptop with the supplied software, the OP-14 operator panel or the OIU touch panel on Ethernet. The sensor memory holds 50 product codes, so one head handles many grammages and recipes, switched from the panel or from the PLC.
Documents for the 3000 series sensors. The brochure covers the whole series, and we send the English operating manual on request.
Want to test the IR-3000C on your web? Describe the material, grammage and measuring point in the quote request form, and we will select the measuring window, range and mounting method.
