Moisture Content in Phosphate

Moisture measurement and control is a crucial aspect in processing phosphate into a usable form. MoistTech’s 3000 Moisture Sensor allows you an instant, non-contact, continuous moisture measurement.

Having the correct moisture levels in phosphate is critical component during processing. Phosphate, an abundantly popular mined element, is primarily used for agricultural purposes. Mined phosphate requires processing in order to separate its elements. The washing process receives the phosphate, screens it, then discharges a phosphate product and a slurry of liberated clay, sand, and phosphate particles.

MoistTech is very experienced with the requirements in the processing of phosphate. Our sensor calibrations, measurement wavelengths, algorithms and sensor optical requirements are pre-set at the factory. Typical accuracy is about ±0.1% moisture. Typical analog range is 0-10% moisture and up to as much as 90%, subject to application. The outputs can be adjusted to optimize PLC or recording requirements.

By installing the sensor at either the entrance or the exit of the washer and or dryer, a manufacturer can continuously monitor the process and can control the moisture content either manually or automatically instantly. Dust from the product is not normally a problem however in extreme dusty environments we recommend the installation of an air purge system to prevent the accumulation of material on the sensor’s window.
