Alfalfa Moisture

Alfalfa is a purple flowering plant sometimes referred to as Lucerne. The plant serves as food for cattle and can be fashioned into hay. This is actually the fourth most widely produced crop in the United States, falling short only to corn, wheat and soybeans.

During conditions with desirable moisture, five to eight tons of alfalfa can be created from one acre of plant.

The most profitable alfalfa is high in digestibility, protein, and of course, must be good in taste. Each of these factors can be attributed as a result of proper alfalfa moisture. Like with most crops, extreme dryness or too much moisture can make the plant unusable or unattractive to buyers.

In addition to the most common use of alfalfa, animal feed, it doubles as bio-fuel and can help in the production of industrial enzymes.
