Forest Waste Moisture

Excess moisture in forest waste products can quickly ruin or lower the quality of the product. In turn, this can cause slow-downs in production and cost money in energy or wasted product.

Continual and accurate forest waste moisture detection is paramount in processing. Saving money is faster and easier when problems are identified and addressed early on.

At MoistTech, we are happy that our customers using our sensor system when processing forest waste are able to deliver a higher-quality product more consistently to their customers.

Installation

Install our forest waste moisture sensor with sturdy support about eight inches over the conveyor belt or product. Our sensor is unique because it can deliver continual, accurate readings even with small gaps in product flow on the belt.

Monitor the process either manually or automatically. Both ways still ensure accurate readings. We also provide a viewing area for real time process measurement using sapphire optics to develop sample systems and optical windows. View more details about this process in our section in sampling technology.

Environment

Our sensor functions well in environments that produce dust. If your environment, however, produces an extremely dusty workspace, you should consider installing an Air Purge System to keep your sensor running as accurately as possible.

We also recommend monitoring your sensor for overheating if it needs to be installed close by a high-heat area, like a dryer outlet. Cool air or water is helpful to keep the sensor cool and functioning properly.

Benefits of Forest Waste Moisture Detection

Our sensors provide great benefits to our customers in the business of processing forest waste, including:

At MoistTech, we understand the requirements to successfully produce biomass from forest waste. Our sensor calibrations, measurement wavelengths, algorithms and sensor optical requirements are pre-set at the factory. Typical accuracy is about ±0.1% moisture. Typical analog range is 0-10% moisture. The outputs can be adjusted to optimize PLC or recording requirements.
