Plastic Powder Moisture

Achieving the right moisture content for plastic powders is of the utmost importance. After the initial evaporation process has been completed, a moisture content of 3-5% is typical. This makes it necessary to carry out a second evaporation process, generally referred to as stripping, which is intended to bring moisture content as close to 0% as possible.

For companies that desire the highest quality in their plastic powders, moisture must be properly regulated throughout the entire process. To do so takes highly accurate plastic powder moisture analyzers—but with so many moisture sensors on the market, how do you choose the right one?

MoistTech’s Solution

MoistTech has been studying the importance of moisture content in manufacturing processes for over 40 years. From the beginning, our goal has been to create affordable moisture testing instruments with the best performance and capabilities. Even with all of our experience and research, we never miss an opportunity to learn more from our industry partners. We look to them to tell us what they need our instruments to do—and what improvements should be made. It’s this feedback that has led us to develop the MoistTech IR-3000.

The IR-3000 allows you to regulate moisture either automatically or manually. It takes instant, non-contact measurements of moisture content in % dry and % wet. While we’re all about moisture, that’s not all our instruments measure. Temperature, chemical composition, and other levels important to plastic powder are tested with accuracy as well.

Benefits of Plastic Powder Moisture Testing

Using the IR-3000 increases the quality of your plastic powders, while cutting production costs. Both start-up and down times are reduced, while product waste due to incorrect moisture content is eliminated.
